Rhino Design Build gets this question quite often.  The answer is quite simple.  Start by answering this question:  What kind of a remodeling project am I considering?  (a bathroom remodel, a kitchen remodel, a room addition, upstairs addition, more square footage, tearing down walls to open up the floor plan)  Begin with making a list of things you want to accomplish from your new home renovation.  Next, go online and find some examples of the type of remodeling project you are looking for.  So, if you are in the market for a new updated kitchen with granite counter tops, go to Google and type in kitchen remodeling.  Then click on “images.”  This will give you lots of different pictures of kitchens that have been remodeled.  Print out several that you like and have them ready when you meet with your contractor.  This will give him an idea as to what type of kitchen remodel you are considering.  Click here to find out how to determine construction cost per square foot.

Home remodeling can be a very confusing and scary process if you are not well prepared for it.  Always do your research before contacting any contractors.  Educating yourself first can save you a lot of time and energy when choosing the right contractor for your home remodeling project.  Talk to friends, family members, co-workers or neighbors who have been through the home remodeling process before.  They will tell you their honest experience and what company they chose to renovate their home.  Knowing what to expect during a home remodel is very important!  Go online and research local companies in your area.  For example, if you live in San Antonio, Texas like I do and you are considering adding a room addition, Google:  San Antonio Room Addition.  This will give you a list of companies in the area that specialize in room additions. I recommend calling at least 3 companies and getting 3 competetive bids.  Also, Google the companies name and owners name and see what comes up.  Do they have any bad press or lawsuits filed against them?  Check out the remodeling company with the Better Business Bureau.  Doing your own investigating can help you rest easier knowing you did all you could to find the best remodeling company for your project.”  Danny Garcia, Rhino Design Build.
